SunPower Corp (NASDAQ: SPWR) and Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) announced on Wednesday that they are working together on a new program that will provide financing to $250 million worth of residential solar lease projects. The companies estimate thousands of homes will benefit from the program.

“We’re pleased to partner with Google to help make solar accessible to more families and allow those families to take control of their energy costs,” SunPower CFO Chuck Boynton said in a statement on Wednesday. “With the increased and growing interest in reliable, cost-effective solar from businesses and homeowners alike, Google’s leadership is helping take solar mainstream.”

This is Google’s third investment into residential rooftop solar.
