Despite the generalization that all oil men are out to destroy the world, the truth is, many are not the evil villains often portrayed in the media.

John Hofmeister is the perfect example.

Hofmeister, the former president of Shell Oil, has long been an advocate of a strategic transition away from the outdated internal combustion engine. In fact, in a November 2012 interview with climate change advocate Bill McKibbon, Hofmeister said. . .

“If we cannot get off the internal combustion engine, with all the technology that. we have available to us, shame on us. And so I’m a strong advocate of moving away from the internal combustion engine which eliminates 40 percent of the oil we consume.”

I also enjoyed his comments in an interview he did with Esquire, when he said. . .

“Collectively, all the Democrats want to talk about is winds solar and biofuel, and they want to punish hydrocarbons with higher taxes. Meanwhile, Republicans honor oil natural gas and coal but not alternative fuels. But there’s no way under the sun this nation can depend solely on hydrocarbons just as there’s no way it can depend solely on alternative.”

Hofmeister is scheduled to appear on Varney & Company tomorrow morning. He’ll likely have some very interesting things to say about the current state of energy markets. So I’ll definitely be watching.  You might want to check it out, too.
